We traveled in style aboard Royal Carribbean's Freedom of the Seas. The ship was pretty incredible! Flowrider for surfing, mini golf course, rock climing wall, ice skating rink, Royal Promenade with pizza parlor, ice cream shop & more, 3 story dining room, pools & kids water area. There was no time to be bored. It's hard to believe all the details that go into operating a ship like that.
We had 2 days at sea and made stops in Labadee/Haiti, Falmouth/Jamaica, Georgetown/Grand Cayman & Cozumel/Mexico. Here's the highlights (not necessarily in chronological order):
Falmouth, Jamaica.....Nikki, Carol & Cathy went horseback riding. They went through a plantation and then along the beach where they rode in the water!
Carol's horse was a bit tempermental!
Our first glimpse of Freedom of the Seas while in Port Canaveral.
The Royal Carribbean trademark anchor.
Freedom of the Seas symbol on the ship in the pool area.
Bon Voyage to Carnival Sensation! We watched Sensation leave Port Canaveral just before our ship left.
Annika & Nikki enjoying a fruity beverage at the pool!
We had dinner together every night in the dining room. Ryan & Annika shared their ice cream one night!
Alex enjoyed several (ok, more than several!) rounds of mini golf on the ship.
Labadee, Haiti...Ryan & Jason relaxing in a ha-mock on the beach. What the picture doesn't show is them getting into the hamock. They almost took a spill and Ryan wasn't quite sure what to think.
Labadee, Haiti ....Jason, Cathy, Nikki & Bones suited up for the zip line! RC claims this zip line is the longest in the world.
At the top, ready to zip down the line!
On the ship, Brandon having fun in the water!
Our staterooms had bunks that folded down from the ceiling. Each night the stateroom attendent put the bunk down and every morning he folded it back up. Ryan was a little nervous to sleep up there, so I climbed up with him the first night. After that, he climbed the latter all by himself.
Falmouth, Jamaica.....our family took a short trolley ride around town. They had several trolleys running that day and the others all looked like you would expect a trolley to look. But I think they knew Ryan was in town, because when ours pulled up, it looked like a train!
Our ship is in the background
Georgetown, Grand Cayman....We took a tour which made a stop at a turtle farm. The farm had turtles ranging in size from little to BIG, and the big ones were really big (up to 600 lbs)! They let us hold the turtles.....
Another stop on our Grand Cayman tour. Ryan wanted to hold Annika's hand all the time. Annika was not always thrilled :)
Grand Cayman turtle farm...this guy was one of the smaller ones.
Ryan wasn't so sure about those turtles, but we did get him to touch one.
Jason held one of the bigger turtles. He was heavier and stronger. They have a tendency to flap their front fins, so you have to be careful that they don't jump out of your hands.
A stop on our tour near Seven Mile Beach, which Alex found out isn't really 7 miles long.
Steph, Jeff & Alex having a "I'm the King of the World!" moment at the front of the ship.
Cozumel, Mexico....at the Port with our ship in the background. Trying to take a picture of the kids with Grandma & Grandpa. Notice how cooperative all the kids are! We gave up after 15 shots.
Cozumel....Brandon chillin' on the beach!
In Cozumel, we went to a beach that had lots of water activities, including this trampoline. It's hard to see from this picture, but Jason, Ryan, Jeff & Alex are on the trampoline together. Ryan's the little guy on the left. It was a decent swim out to get on the trampoline. Ryan wore his life jacket and paddled, paddled until he made it there. He was quite the fish!
Alex & Steph floatin' in the ocean in Cozumel.
Also at the beach in Cozumel, Ryan & I took this paddle boat for a spin.
And Jason & Ryan took this kayak for a ride. You can see the trampoline & glacier in the background.
Grand Cayman....a stop at Margaritaville!! It was awesome (the largest one in the Carribbean), but I was disappointed that they didn't play a single Buffett song while we were there. What the heck?! I let the waiter know I was disappointed.
The AZ Murrs made a stop at Hell, in Grand Cayman.
On the ship in the H2O Zone. This pool was in the shape of a circle and the water flowed 'round and 'round.
