Seussical at The Muni

Springfield is very fortunate to have The Muni....an all-volunteer, outdoor theatre located at Lake Springfield. I have always loved going to the Muni. When I met Jason, I made him go. When I had Ryan, I looked forward to taking him. They put on 4 shows every summer. Their first show of the year was Seussical the Musical, perfect for kids.

Ryan sat through the entire first act and munched on popcorn and lemonade (one of his favorite snacks). He was a little restless during Act 2, but we made it through the entire show. He came home talking about Cat and the Hat, Horton the Elephant and the other Dr. Seuss characters.

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend gave us a preview of summer...we broke out the pool and played outside! Dad was off work all weekend, so he played too!

And we attended the graduation festivities in Hinckley.....another one of ISU's finest.

Dave & Katie's Wedding

When I made the last updates in May, I vowed that I would be more timely about future posts. It's the end of July and I've failed miserably...but here's the latest and greatest from the past couple months.

Dave & Katie celebrated their big day on May 22. Springborn weddings are always a good time!

Busy Weekend!

May 1st was opening day at Blackberry Farm. We bought season passes this year, so we couldn't miss one day. We rode the train, carousel, played in corn box and got to see the floppy eared bunny, Lily. Ryan insited on carrying the map.

Choo choo!!

Instead of a sand box, they have a corn box. If you fill this hopper with corn, use it to load the dump trucks.

On Saturday night, Mom went to Katie's Bachelorette Party....a trolley ride to Rock Bottom for dinner and then onto downtown Naperville. Dad went to Dave's Bachelor Party. They had pizza, a poker tournament and some kinda "entertainment."

On Sunday, the new Wilderness Habitat (bears, polar bears, bald eagles) at Brookfield Zoo opened. We had double the fun, because we rode the train to the zoo and got to see the new habitat.

While we waited for our train back to Aurora, there was a big freight train that whizzed past us!

Note: When taking the Metra to Brookfield, don't get off at the Brookfield stop. Exit at the Holleywood/Zoo Stop. (who knew?!) When Ryan tells you about this trip, he'll tell you that we took a cab to the zoo. He's right - his first cab ride seems to have made an impression!

Spring Break!!

The entire family recently returned from a Spring Break adventure.....Jason & Kim travelled to Riveria Maya and Ryan went to Springfield to stay with Gram & Poppy, and to Naperville for part of the week to stay with Grandma & Grandpa. We are very fortunate to have grandparents who are (VERY) willing and capable of having Ryan come for a visit. I think everyone had a great time!

Margaritaville in Cancun. All I wanted was a picture with us by the sign, but they dressed us up in these silly costumes. We also visited the "market" in downtown......."Come in pretty lady, lots of nice things. For you, cheap!...almost free." Jason didn't mind visiting the jewelry stores because they offered him tequila shots while I shopped. Must have worked, because I came home with a souvenir!

Michigan to visit Uncle Chris

We went to visit Uncle Chris and he took us to a Buick Museum in Flint. We got to sit in this old Buick (1902, I think). We weren't supposed to touch the rest of the cars, so Ryan spent a lot of time playing in this one.

Ryan and I slept on an air mattress in the spare guest bedroom. Before we left on Sunday, we SQUASHED the air out it - Ryan thought that was tons of fun!

Easter

Thanks to Sarah & Josh for hosting! We were very lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy lots of fun in the sunshine.
